The plot of "Aunt Sarah Married Her Daughter to Ivan" is completely fictitious. I created the first version of "Aunt Sarah Married Her Daughter to Ivan" long ago, before moving to England. The small kitchen board was populated by characters from my Moscow circle. The second version was sold in 1992 at the Summer Exhibition, The Royal Academy of Arts. This is the latest version, and among the fictional characters, you can find people familiar to those from the post-Soviet space.
